Meta is reportedly in talks with Scale AI, the data training powerhouse led by Alexandr Wang, in a move that could revive its generative AI ambitions.

Despite owning social media giants like Instagram and Facebook, Meta has lagged behind OpenAI and Google in the AI race. Its LLaMA models showed promise, but lacked the real-world impact of rivals. That might soon change.

Scale AI brings something Meta desperately needs — massive training datasets, structured labelling systems, and high-speed model optimisation infrastructure. This partnership could fast-track Meta’s efforts to compete in the generative AI space with tools for creators, businesses, and end users.

Wang’s Scale AI has already powered AI systems for autonomous vehicles, the US military, and Silicon Valley giants. If Meta gains access to its systems, it could enhance everything from content moderation to AI-generated creator tools, potentially transforming the way content is created and consumed on Meta platforms.
